The Lammermuir Collection

‘My Scottish inspirations gained through my time living in this country and spending time in the Scottish hills, in particular the Lammermuirs where I do a lot of my running, where I have developed an appreciation of the Scottish landscape, the culture and the patriotic nature of the Scottish people.

Thinking about these aspects of Scotland combined with my interest in hill running and my fascination of the various terrains. I am attempting to convey my individual interpretation of the Scottish landscapes and terrain through my senses of touch and sight onto my vessels.

The shapes and surfaces of the images reflect the rounded, weathered, heather clad hills. The texture of the vessels surfaces reflect the varying terrain from rough to smooth and wet to dry, through the different seasons of the year.

The large varieties of colours are drawn from my memories of the flowers, heathers, mosses and lichens seen on my excursions into the hills through these seasons. The light from the sun is varied and affected by the clouds which in turn changes or affects the shades of all the colours no two consecutive days present the same picture to the eye.’
