James Potter
James is a self taught artist living in Edinburgh. He has painted many commissioned portraits
including royalty at Buckingham Palace. He was also an official war artist in Bosnia. He now paints Scottish land and seascapes in oil. With painterly brush strokes, James doesn't hide the process of making the work. Instead each stroke is visible, building together to create expressive images full of energy.
James makes all his frames himself. Using traditional gesso and gilding techniques with 24ct gold leaf, they are works of art in themselves, each taking many hours and hand finished to compliment the painting.
