James Somerville Lindsay
James was born in Perthshire in 1954, grew up in Lanark and studied at Glasgow School of Art under the tutelage of the late John Cunningham. In 2009, after 26 very successful years in the Advertising and Design industry, he decided to seek a more personal form of self expression and fulfilment and took up painting full time.
At every opportunity he endeavours to capture his chosen subject 'en plein air' - be it in the wonderful light of Southern France, the vibrant colour of the Italian Riviera or a stunning coastline or city square at home in Scotland. Whilst in France or Italy he works out of an old Campervan affectionately nicknamed Claude after his favourite artist, Monet.
