Michael Davies
A native of South Africa, Michael is a graduate of Michaellis School of Fine Art in Cape Town.
After a varied career and now UK based Michael paints with egg tempura, an ancient technique whereby pigments are ground and mixed with egg yolk. It is more durable and transparent than oil, with a luminosity that allows light to penetrate. Tempura colours do not darken or change with age. It is a very time consuming technique as each layer must be built up gradually, using small strokes. This makes it ideal for the detailed work Michael enjoys producing.
